About volunteering with us

Building something that matters together.

TISNECH is a growing community and we could not do what we do without people who care enough to give their time. Whether you are available for a few hours each month or more regularly, your contribution genuinely helps neurodivergent children and their families feel supported and understood.

Volunteer roles at TISNECH vary depending on the programme, your availability and the safeguarding requirements of the position. All volunteers are supported by TISNECH staff and no volunteer provides unsupervised one-to-one support with children or young people.

Volunteer roles

Ways you could help

Welcome & Practical Session Support

Help welcome families as they arrive, assist with set-up and clear-down of session spaces, and support the smooth running of our Saturday sessions at New Charlton Community Centre.

Activities & Creative Workshops

Support facilitated activities during sessions — sensory play, creative projects, movement activities and more. All activities are planned and led by TISNECH staff, with volunteers helping to assist.

Events & Community Outreach

Help at community events, family days and outreach activities. This might include setting up and packing down, welcoming attendees, and helping things run smoothly on the day.

Behind-the-Scenes Skills

Do you have a relevant professional skill to share? We are grateful for support with administration, fundraising research, communications, photography or other skills that help TISNECH grow.

Who we are looking for

Patience, reliability and an open heart.

You do not need a specific qualification or professional background. Lived experience of neurodivergence — whether your own or that of someone close to you — is valued, but it is not a requirement. What matters most is your attitude.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Patient, reliable and consistent
  • Respectful of different communication and sensory needs
  • Willing to learn and take direction from TISNECH staff
  • Comfortable in environments with children and young people
  • Open to safeguarding checks relevant to the role

Please note: All volunteers work alongside TISNECH staff. No volunteer provides unsupervised one-to-one support with children or young people. Safeguarding requirements vary by role and will be discussed with you individually.
